Volunteers are still needed for 3 locations of the Film Showing (Appalachian Impressions)/membership drive this month. If you want to help out, just fill out the on-line form at http://appalachiantrail.org/promo/2013-membership-drive---journey-of-2000-miles/volunteer, and select "Volunteer the Day of the Event."

You'd need to arrive 1 - 1 1/2 hours before the film starts, and Javier will show you what needs to be done. You'll take tickets, explain the raffle items (which include a Gregory pack and Eno hammock), direct people to the theater, set up displays, etc. If you have a camera, photo-takers are needed too (a smart phone is fine).

Here are the dates and locations where we still need volunteers.

What would be the total time commitment?

Start to finish?

The minimum time commitment would be about 1 1/2 hours--come 1 hour before program starts, stay 1/2 hour to accommodate latecomers. If you can come half an hour earlier, that's great. I don't actually know if the takedown of tables is after the last person comes in or after people leave the theater.

You would probably miss the half hour of speakers, but you should be able to watch all or most of the 2-hour film (no ticket required for volunteers).

Cool--thanks for at least entertaining the possibility. If you follow the link in the first post, you'll get a little more information about what you'll be doing, etc.. And you'll learn, for example, that you'll get a free, glow-in-the dark A.T. water bottle :-)

Shmaybix,

Thanks for volunteering and putting in a plug for others to do the same!

Cool! If you can volunteer, be sure to use the link above. Hope it works out, and if you go, be sure to tell Javier (who's organizing the program and emcees all of them) that your are a volunteer trail maintainer with SMHC.
