Hi all!

Heading to do 100 miles of the AT from swift Run Gap in Shenandoah to just past Buena Vista, VA. I was wondering if anyone had any good hang sites. Feel free to PM me as well... I will return the favor as I have found a bunch in SNP. Many thanks!

One of my favorites is right beside Ottie Cline Powell's marker on Bluff Mountain. Great views about 2 miles South of Punchbowl Shelter. Incredible sunset and sunrise views. Get your water at Punchbowl and hike on. You'll be glad you did. Ghost of Ottie might be particularly active around Halloween, so that's fun.

Also while at Punchbowl gather apples from the big tree in the clearing across the pond (on the way to the truly awesome privy.)

Cold Mountain, near Rt. 60 would be another great place.

DHT- I just did part of this section last week but unfortunately the guy I was with had to bail so the trip got cut short. We stayed at "the rocks" (as it was named in my map) about 5 miles past the Paul C Wolfe Shelter. There was a fire pit (it was poring rain so we had no fire) and ample room for at least 2 tents and he hung his hammock. The spring source just before (~ 1 mile IIRC) the rocks was dry but it was raining pretty hard for a few days so we were able to get water from large pools within the rocks. The source after the rocks was also dry but at the road crossing about 1 mile south the spring was fine. . When are you heading to do this section? I doubt I can convince the fiance to go back out but if you dont mind and I can work some magic I may be able to tag along. Send me a PM or post here.

Hope this helps.
