I summited Katahdin after a three year section hike of the trail. It was so awesome, I can't even tell you how great it feels. It was a perfect day! I summited on 8/18/05 and flew home today. Here's a picture of me at the summit. I want to say that this site, even though sometimes we get off the subject...has helped me so much to reach where this picture shows me at. Thank-you so much!

Congratulations are certainly in order. It's great that you managed to end with a summit of the Big K.

It'll take me about 10 times longer to section the AT than you, targeting a Fall 2013 summit of Katahdin.

The only other long distance hikers I saw that day were Montana Lush (who had me take a picture of her doing a hand stand at the sign) and Roco, who was finishing a long section hike.

As for the whites, they were beautiful and tough, but I think I liked Maine better. I thought of you Youngblood, while I was descending Moosilauke (or however you spell it). I even had a thunderstorm approach at "thunderstorm junction" just before Madison Spring Hut. Exciting times, but worth every step.

Hi Shades of Blue,
Hope you have recuperated a bit at home.
My brother and I are headed back to the Baxter area Thursday to see if we can be of any help to other hikers as they finish. We will be in the area until Monday.
If you get a chance please send the picture you mentioned.

Hammock Hanger -

Mtn Dancer summited on Friday the 19th. We (Neighbor, Chickety and Airbus) stayed at the Birches with him Thurs night and saw him again on the summit on Friday. Beauty of a day! Perfect I'd have to say! He seemed pretty happy to be there :)

Congrats to you too Shades of Blue!

My journal that has your email address is lost in the mess that I call a home right now. If you will PM your email, I will send the picture. I've also put it in the photos on my journal page, but it would be nice for you to get the unsized photo.
Thanks again for all your help!
