I am looking for a good 3 or 4 day hike on AT for lateJanuary. My Son and I are experienced hikers but we have yet to venture to theAT. We will be coming from the Nashville area and are looking for our firstAppalachian experience. Any suggestions wouldbe appreciated.

Are you experienced at winter backpacking? There will likely be snow and/or ice on most of the trail then.

I am. I've lived in Colorado, Pennsylvania, and a few oversees locations that have colder temperatures. I've also been browsing these forums to get an idea of how cold it can get in the area I’m looking at. I’d rather snow and ice than rain that time of year. Cold and wet can be a problem down here and they do not make for a good combination. That’s one reason I’m looking at a higher altitude trip.
