Back in the day when Kool-Aid was a hiking staple, there was a shake made from a pint of re-constituted dry milk (before Nido) and fruit flavored Kool-Aid (the lemon flavor made it curdle).

I can't find in my notes (actually boxes of garbage I'm waiting to put online on my own web site as the correct way to hike) how much Kool-Aid was added.

It might have come from Wingfoot he was the king of Kool-Aid.

Does anyone remember the recipe?

The closest I've found online is this one, with vanilla instant breakfast added. I might try it, but even I carry sugar free drink mix most of the time now days.

1 packet vanilla instant breakfast
¼ cup powdered milk
3 tablespoons instant grape flavored drink mix (Kool Aid)

At home: combine all of the ingredients in a zip locking plastic bag.

In camp: add about 1 cup of cold water to a screw top container. Add the smoothie mix and shake until thoroughly combined

Tang and milk tasted like a melted creamsicle.

There was a drink called a magic cow in a 70s TV commercial. Something about a glass of milk and soft drink mix (pre-sweetened kool-aid). I think it was something like 2 Tablespoons of kool-aid to a cup of milk? With as sweet as it was, I'm not sure you'd notice if you substituted re-constituted dry milk, lol.
