Here is the project I have been working on recently with my brother who lives in Boston. Making handcrafted wooden scale classic SD Swiss Army knife and putting them on ebay for sale. They are made from the most beautiful exotic woods you can find in the market today from all over the world.

Here is the link:

Ps: The original Plastic scales are 4 gram a pair and wooden scales weights between 2 grams for softwoods and some burls to 6 grams for heavier denser woods so on average they are not heavier than the original scales but it is unique and fashionable.

Hope you enjoy looking at them.

What do you do - do you take an original Swiss Army knife and swap out the scales with your own?

Have just been checking them out. They are very nice, very unique. I think you're gonna have fair success. I see you already have some bids. Good luck on your business. I for one will be placing my bid.

Thank you for your bids . We've started about a month ago and most of the times one or two customers bought all we put in the market in a day or two. It seems wood and knives enthusiasts like them. We shall see.

Very pretty, but I have enough trouble not losing a basic red SAK. I'd lose a wooden one fast. They don't call it the woods for nothing.

I know what you mean. When I entered the university one of my uncles bought me a Spartan as the gift. I was sure I am going to lose it soon but to my surprise I kept it using for 27 years. 2 years ago after a long trail I retired my knife. It now has sentimental value more than anything.

You can't put a price on that.

[QUOTE=geomaniac;1818083]I really like the Palm wood one,

oops, I just noticed that its not palmwood. You have it listed as redwood burl. It sure looks similar to some petrified palmwood that I have.

Actually I had red palm wood scale couple of days ago. It is a very special wood. It is like two different wood in one body. The redwood burl is from giant trees of redwood that hiker may pass by while hiking the PCT.

Hmmmm at $23 bucks it seems that you're underpricing your work and materials. Charge more!
