My backyard in suburbia.

This little guy lived in my Chimney for a few months.

Long story but rather than evict him ( and his brother and mother) we kept our fingers crossed that they would move on in the spring.

I am proud to say we are now empty nesters, but a new critter in the backyard always makes for a good day and takes me to a happy place.

I would explain closing my group thread but it might be deemed as social interaction and then this thread would get closed. There will be no smiling, happiness or laughter here. Only questions and answers are allowed.

Good one Elf. Probably 99.9% of the folks that watched this laughed, just as I did, interesting how "spirtits" are so contagious, get around someone laughing and you can't keep from laughing, don't know why you're doing it but you can't stop, get around doom and gloom folks and the energy gets sucked right out you.....there's a moral in there somewhere.

I have pics of the same memorial plaque and of Lake Marion virtually identical to yours. I was there only once though when thruing the Sierra High Route.

Lake Marion.

There's a nice camping area/campsite on Lake Marion. That looks like where you took your pic from or perhaps at the outlet of Lake Marion which was clogged up with downed trees. I was there twice. Once on the SHR and on another Sierras trek.

Malto
11-20-2013, 14:28
The PCT goes directly over the Catwalk, unless I completely was misinformed. The Lake is the middle of the Kendall Peak Lakes directly south of the catwalk. While Marion Lake is tops for me in the Sierra, this area of WA maybe one of the tops in WA.

Very perceptive of you, Dogwood :D Funny!! You'll just have to take my word for it, tho. They really don't appear happy or look like they enjoy being dressed up like that but they really don't mind. They were on a sit & stay command so that's prob. why they look so serious.

The AT trail that is half up the hill and half down. It runs horizontally not up or down. It runs for a mile or so and is smooth with long vista views. Huge rocks and lots of water streaming in areas. Your there by yourself-no other hikers in site. Weather is clear and about 60degrees. It bends and turns around the mountain. You see the trail ahead as it curves and also behind you when you look. Your feet are fresh, dry and not sore. Your pack feels light, your not thirsty or hungry and your energy is abundant. I've recently had to start reminding myself that those places are where I shouldn't just hike on! I had one weekend this past summer where I came to that one beautiful mile. I was in the col between two peaks, and the trail was walking a nearly level ridge through the balsam forest. I was hiking strongly, not cold nor hot nor hungry nor thirsty nor footsore. The perfume of the balsam was heavenly. It was the best part of the hike, and what did I do? I blew through it in 15-20 minutes. Even a slowpoke like me needs to slow down sometimes.

Fried chicken, Penny's Pizza, Chart House Restaurant, my one and only brother Mike, my 86 y/o dad who served in 2 conflicts in two branches, my mom usually being right, the addition I built on the house, I could go on and on about being happy.
