  1. A breakthrough

    I had a breakthrough moment with the parents last night.

    I brought down the mail drops from my room and showed my parents how to send them and also gave them a map of the AT, one of the free ones you get from Shenandoah NP. Both of them were on their laptops looking up parts of the trail, shelters, towns, vistas.   3. Test weigh-in of my pack

    I just weighed my pack the old fashioned step on the scale with your pack on, step on the scale without it, then subtract the difference. My pack weighs 22.5 pounds sans food and water. That's much lighter than I thought it would be! I have a few more items on their way but the total weight of them should not be more than a pound combined. I will try to post a finalized gear list soon.


    I can't wait to start this journey!
