When I woke up this morning and checked with Hopper to see how she felt. She told me she felt good today. I could tell by her demeanor that she was actually feeling better. She said she would be fine getting back on the trail tomorrow. I was glad to hear that because if she had not gotten better soon I would have had to move on without her.

The manager of the Rendezvous Motel shuttled me to Sugar Run at 8 this morning. It was a nice cool morning. I wanted to get this slack pack done as quickly as possible today because the temps were suppose to get in the 90's this afternoon. I realized about a mile into my hike that I dropped my bandana. I did not want to back track to try and find it either. I also realized a few more miles into the hike that I had forgot to put my gators on before I left this morning. ...

I went to the post office this morning to mail home a few things. I had breakfast along the way. After I got things mailed, I went to the library to use the internet. I wanted to check out REI for the same day pack that Hopper has been using. I have used it a couple of times when Hopper stayed behind in her room while I slack packed. I really like that pack for slack packing. It folds up into its own pocket and weighs almost nothing. After I found it on the web ...

Started around 9:30 at the road crossing for Woods Hole Hostel today and headed south to VA 606 doing a slack pack.

We stopped for lunch at a rock outcrop on Sugar Run Mountain.

I was originally going to hike from Sugar Run Gap/VA 663 to VA 606 but when the church group pulled into the motel parking lot and offered to take all the hikers to breakfast at the church, we could not turn it down. They served up a good meal. When got back from breakfast it was 10:30 and it was too late to do the hike we wanted to do.
