28 August 2010, Lyme-Dorchester Road All I have been thinking about for the last three days is the climbs coming up. Tomorrow (Sunday) is Smarts Mountain and Mt Cube followed Monday by Mt Moosilauke. Tuesday is the climb up South and North Kinsman Mountain. Wednesday is the start the White Mountains. The climbing is about to start. I am not looking forward to this at all. I just realized that because of my one reservation at Zealand Fall Hut on 02 September that I am ...
27 August 2010, Hanover Today started out a lot better than it did for me yesterday. I was able to pick back up with my two mile per hour pace. I did notice a few things about the trail today that in my opinion should be taken care off soon. There were two different areas when the old trail was rerouted but you could see the white blazes from the new reroute. This could be a potential hazard for a hiker in the future. These blazes should at least be removed from the view ...
26 August 2010, VT 14 The first mile of the day started out fine. However after the first mile everything went to crap. I lost all my energy. I felt like a battery that was getting ready to run out of charge. I could not keep a two mile an hour pace like I have always been able to in the past. I know if I quit now I will regret it for the rest of my life. I will finish! I thought when I came out here I would find myself. I don't think I am any closer to that than before I started. I came upon Thundering Falls today. I came here two years ago when mapping the reroute ...
22 August 2010, VT 140 I decided to take a short day today. The factor in this decision was the rain. The other factor stems from the blister on my left heal that is starting to bother me again. I starting wearing a new pair of boots yesterday and that’s where the blister came from. Not much to write about when you doing nothing but trudging along in the rain and looking forward to getting to someplace dry. That is all you think about when you’re hiking in the rain. ...
