10 August 2010, MA 41 I was walking and thinking today about the views I have been taking pictures off. People at home will most likely not appreciate all the pictures of all the views I have. To them they will probably all look the same. I have taken a lot of pictures of mountains and from the tops of mountains and the farm lands below, or ledges but to the average person viewing them they will probably all look the same. To me they will revitalize my memories. I missed ...
09 August 2010, MA 41/Salisbury I had arranged for a shuttle at 08:00. Buy the time the shuttle provider was ready it was almost 08:30. Then the shuttle provider did not know where to go to get us back to the trail head. He took the wrong way at one Y in the road which delayed our start time. By the time we finally got started it was around 09:00. There were five of us, Bismarck, Bluesky, Chili, Pepper and myself. We stuck together for about the first mile. We all passed through a crack ...
08 August 2010, West Cornwall Road Last night throughout the night acorns kept falling on to the metal roof of the shelter and making one heck of a racket. I am glad I was in my hammock. When we got up in the morning they were no longer falling. I don't know what was up with that. The temperatures have been getting lower at night now. I woke up a little chilly the last two nights. I might have to start phasing in my cold weather gear soon. We made arrangements ...
07 August 2010, CT 341/Kent I slept like a baby last night. It did get in the lower 60's last night and I got chilly in my hammock. I need to see how tonight goes and think about maybe getting my winter hammock gear back. I got out of camp at 07:15 this morning. That is the earliest to date that I have ever got out on the trail. It was great hiking that early because the temperatures were low and cool. While hiking on the trail today ...
06 August 2010, Schaghticoke Road I had to take a sleeping pill last night. The train ran every hour and with it going past my hammock 15 feet away at 60 mph it was keeping me awake. I waited until midnight to try and fall asleep without a sleeping pill. Then I could not wait any longer. I slept until 8:30 this morning. I did not even hear Bismarck lower the bear bags that were hanging near my hammock earlier in the morning. I went over to the benches ...
