i'm going to trail days in franklin nc hope to be there sat.looking to score a 56 L pack.then on to ocoee tn for some hiking tune ups.maybe hike up springer mt

The first week is in the can, hiked from the Approach trail to Helen Ga. First few days were warm and sunny, which was great. Only focused on the hike.
then it started raining,,,, and it turn cold. Really good gear check.

We are planning a 13 day hike starting at Hightop Hut in VA and ended around EdGarvey Shelter in MD. Does anyone know of any restrictions against camping out on this section of trail or have any suggestions?

WOW! just got to the lodge at Fontana and this place is amazing. The Great Smokey Mountains are next. I have had a blast so far. my plan is to go to Harpers Ferrry but the bank account might keep that from happening.
