29 April 2010, Spivey Gap A bunch of us hiked the two miles to the road crossing this morning and hitched down to the diner for breakfast. It was well worth it. 28 April 2010, Hogback Ridge Shelter What a long day this was and another longest to date. My right shin started hurting; I hope it is not shin splints. I will cross my fingers and hope the pain will be gone in the morning. The pain got so bad that it took me 1/2 hour to cover the last quarter mile to the shelter. Its finally come time to tell the truth about our camps that we love and work hard at. we reopened our camps to hikers in 1999. back in the 30's there were 11 logging camps between monson and abol.out of the 11 there are 3 left,we are one of them. we did not cut any illegal trail to our camps,the mahar tote rd. has been there since the logging days, we got permission from the paper co. to have a foot path to our boat dock,all we did was clear out downed trees and brush. as for that BIG orange sign ...
