  1. Day 53: Goodbye Tennessee

Have a 22 mile slack pack today. Getting shuttled by Boots Off to the trailhead. Unfortunately they couldn’t get me there until 9:30am. I’ll be hiking into Damascus and Trail Days starts today. Trail Days is a annual event. There are vendors, food, and music. Hikers come from past years and current thru hikers shuttle back or up wherever they are on trail. The hike today is a pretty nice one. I’m up on a ridge, so there’s little elevation change before I descend into Damascus. Made good time. About ...

  2. Day 52: Aqua Blazing

Had a nice and relaxing morning. We don’t start gathering for Aqua blazing until 10am. 😁 They have a full group of 14 hikers signed up. We are kayaking 8 miles and that will equate to 21 miles of the trail. Today was a beautiful day. Partly cloudy. Little wind. Still a little to cold for me to swim, but nice to dip my hands and feet in. I’m a little nervous that my arms won’t be able to handle all the work, but they held up really well. I was the only female that did a single kayak (the ...

  3. Day 51: Short Rainy Day

Only 8 miles today, but it’s suppose to rain until mid afternoon. Easy and flat to start. Passed Laurel Falls. Good long decent down stone steps. That was interesting to do in the rain. Had a 3 mile ascent over Pond Flats Mountain. I can definitely feel myself getting into better and better shape. I’ve been feeling good. No pain and no blisters. On the descent I did start to feel cold. I think the wet was getting to me. Thankfully made it into Boots Off Hostel before 2pm. Able to shower, change ...

  4. Day 50: Met Bob; Legend of the trail

Today was a pretty easy terrain day. Beautiful weather today. Had lunch at Moreland Gap Shelter. There was a group of hikers held up there due to sickness. Some stomach bug was workin it’s way through the group. Kept our distance and moved on. We decided to push to Kincora Hiker Hostel since it was suppose to start raining tonight. Bob Peoples has been running that hostel since 1997 and has hosted almost 25,000 hikers. It’s a dingier place, but not too bad considering he’s in his 80s. He leaves ...

  5. Day 49: Mile 400!

Today we are slack packing SOBO from Walnut Mountain Road back to the hostel. The hostel owner decided to hike with us for fun. There were a couple waterfalls on the trail, but the Close Enuff took us to a secret waterfall that only locals know about. It was beautiful. Rained on us most of the day, but it wasn’t too bad and it wasn’t too cold at least. Made it back to the hostel in the afternoon. Went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner and it was amazing. Could give any place in Texas a run for ...
