I went with the MSR Whisper-Lite Universal. It uses both Isobutane canister and white gas, kerosene and unleaded gasoline. It also comes with a inversion stand for the canister so you can get all the fuel out of it. I plan to carry only one canister at a time and a few ounces of white gas just in case.

My original plan was to hike from my condo and access the current AT via the Old Appalachian Trail that runs through Wintergreen. I should have picked up the AT at Dripping Rock after about 3 miles then 7 miles to Maupin Fields shelter. Of course I had my AWOL and the local section map but no map of the trail here on Wintergreen. So a couple years a go I began a SOBO hike and I only made it to the North Adams, MA area. I went up and over Mt. Greylock and then kind of fizzled out...To be honest leaving the trail was something I regret more then anything. I think about it all the time I prepared and all the excitement before I left. Hello again: I am thinking of starting a shuttle and car service here in Vermont for AT and LT hikers. I would pick you up and/or drop you off at your desired location in VT. Also, you could park your car at our house, then I would bring you to your starting point, then pick you up when you were done. How much to charge, is what I am asking for any input on.
