AT#4 TN Erwin to Damascus VA


with 2 Mile


Drove up early in morning and arrived at Erwin and had lunch at a local BBQ joint looking at Nolichucky River. This was an astute move because we bulked up!

AT#5 VA Rockfish Gap to Blackrock

Parked at Afton Mountain at old Hojo's. Hiked uphill 8 miles ascending 600' to Calf Mount Shelter which was full so we camped close by and ate dinner. Plenty of water .2 miles away from a piped spring.

AT# 6 PA Pine Grove Furnace to Port Clinton


with 2 Mile and Caras


Took car to Port Clinton and ported back to Pine Grove Furnace. 10/29 Started at mile N 1084 Pine Grove Furnace.and hiked 15 miles to Alec Kennedy Shelter. This was a fast flat hike in dense woods and no rocks. 10/30 Hiked over I-81 thru farmland and to Boiling Springs for early lunch at gas station close to clock tower. AT#7 VA Swift Run Gap Panorama to Route 522

9:35 Hiked to mile 945 to Free Range Cabin Camp Site; tented in field with close by water and Cabin table to eat at! Nice Views east arrived at 5:48 and rained overnight. Actually hiked through snow at the tops of the mountains and ridges!

AT# 8 VA Bears Den Snickers Gap to Harpers Ferry WV


With Caras and 2 Mile (Bears Den Hostel)


Met Caras and Bruce 3 miles south on trail...at 994 mile. Hiked north 11 miles to Blackburn Hostel (mile 1005); great Hostel with shower, eating areas and wood bunks. Met nobounders from Terra Alta WV. 5/28 Hiked 11 miles to ATC Conservancy and Harpers Ferry for lunch and ice cream. In the summer watch out for mosquitoes. This was ...
