Left car at Daleville; got dropped ( used Homer Witcher) at Pearisburg October 12 (Dinner) Departed From Nellysford Drive to Pearisburg/Route 634 Hiked 8 miles to RICE MTN SHELTER Dinner at shelter; lunch at Pearisburg October 13 Started at11:15am Hike 11.2 to Sims Meadow and tent camped near an apple orchard. AT#14 VA James River Footbridge to Bearwallow

Started at 11:45 and hiking 15 miles past Matts Creek Shelter at 2:32 for lunch. Stayed at Thunderhill Shelter. Passed by apple orchard with small crab apples. Monday May 21 Left Chesterfield 3am 7.5 hours to Knoxville 3.25 hours to Deep Gap On the trail by 3pm Deep Gap to Carter Gap Shelter 8.3 miles Hiked up to Standing Indian Shelter through Beech Gap to Carter Gap which was nice Shelter with a common breezeway eating area. AT#17 VA Route 611 Crandon to Pearisburg


With 2 Mile and Montgomery.


Hiked 12 miles to Dismal Falls arriving at 5:30. Free camped and left at 9 next am. Hiked to Wapiti Shelter for lunch (6miles). Hiked 6 miles to trail head to Woods Hole Hostel and 1 mile downhill to one of the best hostels on the AT. Nice bunk house, outside showers and a gourmet dinner that evening.
