AT#21 VA Dicky Gap to Groseclose

Entered the Racoon Branch Wilderness of Jefferson National Forest and hiked 5 miles up to Trimpi. Stone Shelter and roof in average condition. 5/29 Trimpi Shelter easy hike of ups and downs starting at 3 and arriving at 5. 5/30 Partnership Shelter. This is a new shelter with an outside shower. Close to park hq. Hiked 11 miles of ups and downs. Hiked over a trout stream with plentiful water. Wild flowers and blooming yellow azaleas along the trail. Also saw blooming rhododendron and Mountain Laurel. Nice Mountain views along the trail. Saw an interesting cairn shaped like a "V" for victory. Passed by Chatfield Shelter and then through a set of abandoned pastures and orchards to Lindamood School house which was built in 1894. This was a 11 mile hike up Brushy and Glade mountains. Then descended in a pasture field to the Red Barn Restaurant. 5/31 Groseclose Red Barn Restaurant. Had a triple burger!
