Well, I haven't been a part of the hiking "community" although I have over 5,000 logged miles on and around the AT.
Since being shot down in a huey helicopter in Vietnam, while serving as a combat medic I have stuggled with being a part of a "community" and have hiked all those miles alone, under many different weather conditions. I'm a seasoned hiker and believe the "Golden Rule" Hike your own hike, and leave your attitude at home...
I plan to leave Springer toward's the end of Mar. 2011 and hope to meet some of you heading North. I'll be the loner with the hammock, and thirty pound pack....
