QUIET ON THE AT: 31 miles in 2 days. Made it to Blood Mtn Shelter last night just as the rain and ice pelted from the sky. Hung his food and took protection in the shelter.....only to look out the window to see a Black Bear climb a tree to get one of the hikers food packs...QUIET runs out (15' from the bear) to grab his food and take it into the shelter. Since the shelter windows had wood slats over them to keep the water out - all should have been safe...NOT....later that evening a 500 pound black bear climbs through the window into the shelter and grabs his food pack with all his food and cookware - GONE......Staying at a hostel today/tonight ... He enjoyed a hot shower....and will be taking a shuttle with some of the other hikers into town to replenish the stolen goods.....A little hungry and tired...but safe....for now :s
