Leapfrog^

Underway on Fr 6/17 just after 6 a.m. w/Spirit via the Greenleaf Trail. Quick stop at the GL Hut & then on up to Mt. Lafayette. Amazingly we owned the ridge w/o a soul in sight until summit of Garfield. Deteriorating weather in latter part of day means we put up for a pricy stay at Galehead Hut. There's a first time for everything & in hindsight it was an experience & sure beat carrying wet gear the next day. Weather improves thruout the day on Saturday & we enjoy a fine hike over S Twin, Guyot & Zealand to our 2nd overnite at Ethan Pond campsite. Wrapped it up early Sunday morning w/an easy short downhill hike to Route 302 at Crawford Notch. Hitching w/a sign helps & in no time we're back at Cannon Tramway lot & gone by 9 a.m.
