Lord Brion Bearclaw

Tweaking my gear list.

Rate this Entry
Target date to start is March 2016.

Pack weight is still too heavy, even with a solo one man tent which weighed in at five lbs. on my last hike. Shooting for 25 – 30 lbs. pack total, food/water included.

Ok, the Big Three. Pack, Sleeping Bag, and Shelter.
Pack. Found a 1 lb. REI Flash 22 pack that holds all the essentials, but leaves little room for anything else.
Bag. Retaining the Kelty Cosmic Down bag at 2 lbs.
Shelter. Decided that I really don’t want to sleep on the ground if I can help it (no uneven ground, no roots, rocks, coldness, wetness, etc. and no need for the bulky sleep mat. Found the Grand Trunk hammock at 12 ounces. Once I add in my custom built strap system and bugnet it should come to about a pound. Add in the custom silnylon hexagonal tarp and titanium stakes and my shelter weight should average around two lbs.

The Big Three now weigh 1,2, and 2 = 5 lbs. for all Three.
