The Appalachian Trail and Foss and Knowlton, Blueberry Ledges, Abol Pond and Abol Stream trails are closed for at least the weekend for public safety as fire containment with BSP Rangers and MFS continues.

Huge thanks to the consummate professionals of the Maine Forest Service for their leadership in containing this fire along the confluence of Katahdin Stream and the West Branch.

The Park itself remains closed to vehicular traffic and camping until July 1st.
Day hikes are allowed but not above treeline, and all Katahdin and Traveler trails remain closed at the trailhead.

Hopefully this warm weather will do some melting. Still heavy snow drifts in spots on mountain.
