I just bought a bunch of Mexicali Rose Dehydrated Refried Beans because they just sounded tasty.
Does anyone know if you can cook them directly in the bag by adding hot water directly to the bag?

I use 1 cup powdered retried beans, 2/3 cup minute rice, one pack of buffalo chicken, a couple small cheese packs and 3or 4 Taco Bell fire sauce and mix with 1 1/2 cup boiling water in a freezer bag. Scoop on to a tortilla and whammo, chicken burrito.
The Mexicali rose has 2cups per packet and while you might be able to cook, that’s a lot of refried beans.
The same recipe above works great as a cold soak too.
Kroger. It’s made by Starkist. Instead of tuna creations, it’s chicken creations. They have buffalo, lemon pepper and ginger soy.
I use lemon pepper with 1cup minute rice, 1/2 packet of Alfredo sauce mix, 1/2 cup dried peas and shelf stable bacon for a killer rice based chicken carbonara.
The ginger soy goes in the knorr pasta side teriyaki noodles.
What flavor beans did you get? I have three each of the green Chile and spicy chorizo flavored ones, along with 8packs of plain.
Yeah, when I don’t make it into a burrito I use a handful of chili cheese Fritos. Good salt content during summer.
I'm definitely making this next trip.
I bought the Mexicali rose dehydrated beans (seemed a little pricey tho). Just need the buffalo chicken and a night in my tent.
