I saw a recent report that the Carriage Road used to access Long Falls Dam Road on the East side of the mountain (Flagstaff Lake Side) from the west side (RT 27 Eustis and Carrabassett) is closed. This is a private logging road that has been used in the past for car shuttles for people hiking the AT over the Bigelow Ridge (a very nice backpack). The only alternative is an extra 40 plus mile drive down to New Portland to cross the river.
