To upload thumbnails: click the button labeled "Go Advanced" while editing your reply. Then click the button that looks like a paper clip.
To download pictures (JPGs) from most browsers, just right-click on the picture and then choose "Save Link As."
What do you mean by "photos at the end of a message"??
You can download a photo by right-clicking on it and choosing "save".
To put a photo in the gallery, click on one of the small photos on the home page to go to the gallery, then click on "upload" near the upper right, follow the instructions on the upload page.
