Will the Museum get more physical artifacts and historic items from the trail? I honestly was a tad let down in my visit I had recently.

The Museum Manager, Howard Davis, would be more informed about the exhibit plans.
I do know that the present expansion construction will dramatically increase exhibit space.
You may email Howard at [email protected] and ask him yourself. Best ~ Robert"R W"

Special Notice ~ Ernst "Raven ~ Class of '85" Banfield
:-? ................
Dear Friends of the Appalachian Trail Museum,
On January 3rd. a long time life-member of ALDHA, an avid AT hiker
and supporter, a friend to many hikers for many years, and my friend
through the years since I first met him at the 2002 Gathering in
West Virginia, Ernst "Raven ~ Class of '85" Banfield passed away.
In the 1st. thunbnail is his "Farewell" and further info about leaving any
message one may wish to make.
"Raven" and his family are supporters of the A. T. Museum and have requested
that, "Memorial donations are suggested to the Appalachian Trail Museum".
A special listing for Raven on the new "Building Fund Donors (2013 - 16)"
plaque has been created and reads as in the attached file. This plaque will
be hung in the Museum by June's AT Hall of Fame Banquet in 2017. All
donors to his memorial fund will receive an acknowledgement note, as well as
Raven's family will be informed of each donation. Since the Museum is a registered
non-profit, all donors will also receive an I.R.S. receipt for tax purposes. A printable
donation form is in the 2rd. thumbnail for your convenience. Please mark checks
as "in memory of Raven" and your donation will be so applied.
Raven's passing brings to mind one of Nimblewill Nomad's poetry lines:
"......' ll roam these hills and mountain sides until that bye and bye,
a perfect dawn, when packs take wing, and the tread way climbs the sky" !
May Light Perpetual shine on Raven, now and forever.

Thru: An Appalachian Trail Love Story ~ A Customer Review:
Warning: This book will make you late for work!
by John L. Boyer Jr. on March 1, 2014
Amazon Verified Purchase
I just finished Thru and am very impressed. When I got about 1/4 into it had a hard time putting it down.
At 3/4 I slowed down a bit to savor it. The characters are really diverse and for the most part are known
by their trail names. Personalities such as Brave Phillie, Sky Writer, Ultra Grunge and Captain Stupid
come across as too quirky and authentic to be purely the product of a writers imagination. In the
acknowledgements, the author says as much. The book is written from the viewpoints of several
travelers journals, so the reader gets to experience the journey from their viewpoints simultaneously.
I hope this book will have a broader appeal than just those who are interested in hiking or the AT.
I can easily see it as a TV series or a movie. The storyline deals with things that affect all of us... love,
rejection, growing up and growing old, joy and pain; all set against the backdrop of random people
escaping the 'real world' for a while to enjoy God's creation.
In my very little time hiking on the AT I have seen the unusual culture of the trail in action. It really is
some sort of magic, and Richard Judy has captured it well. So get the book! And remember ALL of the
proceeds go to help fund the Appalachian Trail Museum.
