I use NuvaRing. It's easier to just put it in and forget it, rather than have to remember a pill everyday. And you can leave it in for a month and just skip your period too!
Hey Glimmer! I'm in the same boat, and would totally be interested in doing a shakedown hike with you or starting off together next year! I'll shoot you a PM!
Hi hikergirlem! I'm definitely still looking for a hiking partner for shorter stuff this year, and then my thru next! I'll shoot you a PM!
I'm pretty set on next year now, but I'd love a hiking partner for day trips or weekend trips around here, if you're interested!
Where are you thinking of hiking? I'm hoping to do a section this summer, and would definitely be interested in joining you for a week! (Don't know if I could take two consecutive off from work!)
My plans have fallen through for this year (money/supply stuff), so I'll be planning for next year. Happy trails, everyone!
Ah, I wish I could convince them of that! I have no doubt I'll find many to hike with, but I'd love to have someone to start with.
I'm a 26 year old Chicagoan, looking for a female partner to start NOBO from Springer in early April. I have a little backpacking experience, and was bitten by the AT-bug a few years ago. It's been...
I'm hoping to start in early April as well. The weather has been awful, so I'm hoping the worst will be over by then!
I'm a 26 year old female with a little backpacking experience, but my family...
I own my car outright, so no potential problems with liens or anything. I'll look into requirements in Illinois, but the storage option or low mileage sound like good options for me. I'd be leaving...
Since I won't be driving for six-ish months during my thru and I'd like to save money, I've thought about cancelling my car insurance. Does anyone have experience cancelling or putting a hold on...
Thanks ATBuddy! Moving west is an aspiration of mine. I've been looking for opportunities for a few years, and have had a few interviews, but nothing has panned out. But I should try harder -...
Hi all! I'm still hemming and hawing about a thru-hike next year (not a ton of experience, and kind of scared of the possibility of quitting my job to hike), but it's wonderful to read I'd be in the...
Welcome CityGirl! I'm a Chicagoan too, who is pondering a thru-hike for next spring. I'd say I'm 50/50, as I'm up for a promotion at work. I'll let you know if I do end up committing, but if you're...
Double Springs had a tarp up a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully it's still there for you!
Yay for fellow Chicagoans! I've gone to Forest Trails Hiking Club's events before (http://www.foresttrailshc.com/). They'll do day hikes - 10-12 miles in 3-4 hours - and all within a couple hours. I...
I know a lot of people use TJ (and I don't know if it has this), but for those who use WordPress: they have an option to publish your post immediately or you can choose what date and what time to...
New Balance makes 3 men's outdoor shoes in a B width - the 978 (which is Goretex), the 967 (which is waterproofed), and the Dunham Cloud (also waterproof). I have the predecessor to the 978, and...
What kind of account do you have with PNC? I have PNC do not have fees reimbursed.
I find it strange that this song compels me to hike, but "Home" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes.

For the squeaking problem try putting body glide or vaseline on the bottom edge of the insert (the edge between the shoe and insert). It makes noise because it's not the same exact shape, and body...
Thank you for your basic itinerary! I'm trying to introduce my roommate to backpacking, and this seems perfect. How varied is the terrain?
