    Why not use your cooking pot??
    It should rest flush with the bottom of the stream and not raise up like your nalgene.

    Just an idea that wouldn't add any weight..

    Good to rotate clothes too. Rinse socks and shirts, and simply hang them out, or on your pack as you hike.

    No need to take drastic measures to "clean"...

    What is the best way going about hanging up a bear bag on a thru hike??
    Is it even necessary?
    Will any old bag (compression bag or so) work? Or would a bear canister be advised??
