I have been hiking sections of the FT. I have about 400 miles left to do up in the panhandle. Heading to FL for the winter mid-December. I hop to attend the kick-of at the Oasis Station.
BTW, I spent last winter at Alligator Point near Panacea. Going back to the same place next year.
I only got in 115 miles this winter. I have hiked from Oasis Center to the northern end of Osceola National Forest. Then I have a gap from the Suwannee River to the edge of St Marks Wildlife...
I have been hearing about several folks offering refuge for hikers during this difficult time to be out on the trail. Kudos to all of you Trail Angels!
Congrats! That is a very nice accomplishment!
It is good to get advice from people with knowledge. It is also good to get advice from an ortho doc. What do you have to lose other than some time and $$. I would reco that you go to a sport...
Is this picture in NJ? Looks kind of familiar.
Good idea. I might try this. Once it gets squaeking my pack prives me crazy. Usually I shift the pack weight a bit and it goes away. But, it is always from the same place as best as I can tell. ...
Yes, I appreciate all of YOUR advice fellow WB'zers.
I use "Chenango" as a name for now and was known as "Shennanigans" on the AT this spring. I guess I am a man in search of a name along with...
We (Mariano, Tinker. and me) had a great hike in PA ... perfect weather for most of the trip. Pennsylvania is a beautiful state.
I ended up leaving my car at the AT parking lot on RT61 in Port...
My lifelong (40+ yrs) hiking buddy, Chuck, is a snow-maker on Mt Snow. He must be on the job!! lol
I have ended up carrying snowshoes up Stratton more then wearing up. This is a very popular trail and is usually packed down. That being said, someone has to be first on the trail after a big snow!
I am now considering leaving my car in the lot after some of your replies. After all, what is insurance for? I am sure I would not be saying that if I had problems. lol.
Thanks for all of...
Does anyone have a recommendation for where to spot a car at (or near) Port Clinton, PA for five days??
I will be ending a section hike there and the local State Police said there has been lots of...
Tuts, I just finished watching the video. Great job. I live near the Finger Lakes Trail in central NY. The eastern terminus of the FLT is The Long Path ... somewhere near Slide Mtn I think. I...
Thanks for all the work you do keeping up WB!! It is appreciated.
He is Lee E. Bohner from Osgood, IN. At least I think that is him. I am going to try calling him later today.
Anybody know if Loner Bohner made it to Katahdin? I saw registry entries about him in VT. If you have his contact info please send me a PM. I hiked with him for several weeks this past spring down...
Leaves were at peak last weekend on the Long Trail in southern VT. I loved hiking through the golden leaves of the beech groves.
Leaves are now gone at home here in central NY.
Small world. All the good campsites were already taken. It was liek a zoo out there. I think colleges had a long weekend with Columbus Day. I made it to the shelter just as it got dark. In fact...
I think I ran into you taking a break on a very comfy looking log with your wife. I asked about the ALDHA gathering. I was hiking down from Galstonbury. I had on a bright yellow shirt. Was that...
The BlackForest trail loop is also very nice. I hiked it last year around this time. Great foliage.
Thanks. Great info.
Looks like a bobcat to me as well. I saw one once in SNP. That being said, a cougar was killed by a car in my Mom's town of Milford, CT just a month or so ago. Another one was sighted in...
