What works for me, since I left Colorado for the flatland's. First night in Denver. Next day go up to RMNP Alpine visitors center at 12,000 ft for the afternoon. Sleep doen lower

I keep my paperwhite in a Lopsack. Pro-tip....make sure you turn down the backlight if you are reading during the day....it really saves the battery and you feel less stupid

For stuff like oatmeal I use freezer bags
For dehydrated stuff I use a foodsaver
Apparently I eat a lot of stuff :-)
Because of the fats it DOES have a shelf life
Other than that it is a great source of extra calories
Even if you simply stuff your bag in the pack, an extra drybag is a good idea in case you get in a situation where you KNOW you are going to get really wet
