That's where my husband Snowman got his too!
Hey Sparkplug! :sun
Last year I started out with regular tp - would pack it to the shelter and then use it to start the campfire!
But then I switched to a dab rag - it was a cotton washcloth that I rinsed out with...
Last year I only shaved in towns. I know some girls didn't shave at all - but I am not that brave. My legs don't bother me too much - but I can't take underarm hair!
I don't do the Brazilian or...
I wear Lowe Alpine hiking underwear - can't remember their proper name - but they are a bit like biking shorts (shorter in the leg though). They do tend to *pong* a bit after a while - but they dry...
Last February we flew from London to the USA - the airline bound our backpack straps for us. Got them back none the worse for wear. I think airlines (even international ones) are used to different...
Snowman and I won't be there this year unfortunately. Our flights back to the UK were not changeable!
We are already discussing Trail Days for next year though!! :)
Read the Troll family journal!! Amazing family!
I took Snowman's boys over for a section hike at the end of May. They are 10 & 12. They had never backpacked before or really hiked long...
14 is a really low number!! When my husband (Snowman) summited on Tuesday the 27th (with me tagging along) his paper from the ranger had a number in the 200's.
And I can assure you that Snowman...
Things I have *seen* in the woods that turned out to be nothing:
A white trailer - single wide - turned out to be the light of the sky coming through the trees.
Shelters - turned out to be...
It's funny...I thought I would gain weight too, but I have lost additional weight for a total of 26 pounds!! I think a lot of that is the stress of my husband being away. Only a few more day until...
What about shoving leaves down the toilet? ;)
I met a thru hiker this year that knits at town stops and shelters, etc. I think it was Snowbunny...I thought it was GREAT! Of course I don't knit - I cross stitch - which would be a bit more...
Gosh lighten up folks, it was a *joke*....you know....humor? :datz
Any chance of posting a list of the hikers that come to this event? It seems that internet access is becoming scarce (or is too far off trail) and it would be helpful for some of us tracking our...
I am staying there in two weeks time and am really looking forward to it!!
I have spoken to Joan on the phone a couple of times and I just don't want the conversation to end - she is SO lovely!...
Actually *petrol* and *gas* are two separate products. Cars in the UK run on *petrol* and the reason we pay so much is actually TAX to the lovely government.
You can get your car *altered* to run...
I will be in Millinocket in less than three weeks...anyone know what the gas prices are up there right now? Thx!
Phooey I voted wrong...I meant to vote *No*.
I keep little items in my front pocket, but for those *must have* other small items I also wear a bum bag (fanny pack) so it's all there without...
Great news! Congrats!! :clap
We came across quite a few shelters that didn't have brooms...should have written down which ones... it's lovely to be the last one leaving the shelter and giving them a good sweep...leaves it nice...
Snowman left Hanover, NH yesterday afternoon. He's doing great! Did a shake down of his pack to lessen the load for the final stretch! I am SO proud of him!:sun
Funny you should say that - when we started hiking in March we had Dorothy & Toto really confused...they thought I was English and couldn't figure out how/why my mother lived in Florida and was born...
I have a *Cat's Meow* by the North Face...love it!
That's a good use for The Guardian as well. I wouldn't ever recommend anyone, especially an American, to ever read the Guardian. You would be so angry after the first few sentences of *any* column...
