I think there is only one shelter in Ga? That is also where the majority of the road walk still exists.

You might be able to find a low cost dehydrator at a thrift store. You can also dehydrate in your oven.

I just got an SLD Trail Lair! Spent the last 7 years in a modified ENO singlenest. I'm looking forward to trying out my new Hammock at a group Hang in 2 weeks at the Sipsey Wilderness in Alabama.

Option A in the Sipsey sounds fabulous. It'll give you time to play with gear, talk about pack weight, etc. The longer option can get rough with blow downs or adverse weather. There is always stuff...
