Thanks Bob, I should have put in more detail, but I'm back at work and time is limited...
I had planned on doing it all a couple years ago started at Flagg but came off the trail at FS 500 because I needed some more tape for my feet. I should have just hitched to town and got back on...
I generally leave some water in my vehicle. Doing skyway first and carrying minimal water I know that if it's a dry year and I get up to the intersection of the Silent, Pinhoti, Scout trail and it...

First I want to think the trail volunteers for all you do... Overall this was a nice hike, the weather wasn't the best, but I've been trying to find the time to finish the Alabama sections for some...
Has anybody done this section recently?
Looks like I'll be hiking in the rain this week, I've had to put is section a couple time already, and if I do it again it will be fall before I have...
If it is a wet year then water won't be problem. If dry then carry water to cover the Pinhoti section. I myself hike that loop skyway first in the summer.
I'm wanting to hike from Burns to Jackson Chapel next week and was wondering about leaving my truck at Jackson Chapel a couple days? The pinhoti trail alliance site says there is room for 4, but I...
HA I was thinking the same thing...
It is always amazing to me how some forum threads can get away from their purpose, the OP intent on sharing an experience.
Yeap the http://www.pinhotitrailalliance.org/sitemap.html is the best resource for general trail info, and I see he has redone the snailtrail info for section 3.
Here's a few links to my hikes on...
New Pinhoti thread up...!!
I'm honored to be the first post here...
I hope this becomes a good resource for those wanting to add to their hiking experiences....
Thanks WB

Rain man your analogue is off. WB has already made the decision to carry info on other trails, as you can see. Your in that section.
They who ever they are have made the decision to be not only...
I hiked this section last May. There was water at the start, and I topped off there. I did not try to find the water that is east of the saddle because I had placed stash of water at Bulls gap...
The Pinhoti is a National Recreation Trail, and Appalachian Trail connector.
Plus it is part of the ECT/GET if I’m not mistaken. And the GET has a section so how much road walk GA is irrelevant....
I haven't done any thru hikes etc... but I started using pacer poles over a year ago on my overnights, and bi-weekly walks and just did 100 mile hike with them. I love them. I know they have help...
+1 on the pacer poles...
Thanks, for the feedback, it confirms my thoughts... I've never used poles, an occasional stick, but these looked interesting... specially the hand position...
Add to my list of thing to get...
+1 on this, also test yo set up before you go so you know how to hang it to get a good lie. Us the bag as a top quilt, and your your tyvek as a tarp...
I was looking at Pacer Poles and wondering about them. Any one got any feed back?
peace
Thanks for the input. I was thinking they should dry pretty quick. The only way they'd get soaked is from rain, which is a concern and can be a daily occurrence in the southor mistep on a creek...
I'm looking at both of these in the mid version... I'm really just starting to do multi day hikes. Up to now I've mainly done day hikes in my tevas, which are also really in need of replacement :(
...
Lots of good suggestions here. I'm just getting back into camping, and doing some hiking... upgrading and getting modern stuff :)
My past experience though was that is easier to cool off with a...
Very nice pics...
Thanks for the feed back.
I few times I've used my current set up I've found that I mix both root/limb and stake use for the tarp, but feel I really need to be sure I have stakes for higher wind...
