Can I send a fuel canister in a mail drop? I've never tried that--just assumed it wasn't allowed.

I'm buying a new stove for my MST hike, but I'm concerned that I'll get out there and not be able to find fuel. What would be my best bet?

The Pinhoti Trail goes pretty close to Mount Cheaha, Alabama's high point at
2,413 feet. When they ask me, I'll tell them the trail should be re-routed to go over the summit.

GA/AL line and Rabbittown Road

I'm looking for someone who can shuttle two people either the morning of the 19th or late afternoon of the 22nd. We'll be hiking the northernmost Alabama section of the trail.

I'm probably misreading something here, but if you're doing what I call the "Georgia Loop," won't you walk right through Mountain Crossings? I'm confused as to why you'd need the 5-mile detour.

Are you flying or driving? It's helpful to know whether you'd need the trailhead to be reasonably close to an airport.

I agree that you won't be able to find everything you need in a local store, but buy what you can locally. Folks need jobs.

Cookerhiker--I stand by my post. If she wants to leave Springer in March or April to hike the Colorado Trail, she should have no problem finding a partner :)

I did the AT/BMT Smokies loop a few years back. People yell at me when I say the AT part was better, but that's just me. I'd recommend starting at Fontana or Davenport Gap and doing the BMT section...
