Same here. All, and I mean all, of my socks are black light hikers that I wear every day, hiking or simply having a normal day. Each morning I grab two from the sock drawer and off I go. DT socks are...

You do realize that it will still be winter conditions don't you? Snowshoes might be better than trail runners. There is a Facebook group for Maine hikers and many women post about their trips and...
Those may be few and far between right now. Baxter is closed and some of our areas are still under feet of snow. If there are some SOBO's out there they will be saying hello to our wonderful black...
So maybe Minnesota Smith was ahead of his times.
Yesterday I was building privys that will be transported to various places on the trail this season. Many of the crew are trail maintainers and discussed how this is a late spring and that they have...
I live in central Maine and my Bean hooded jacket is my go-to garnet for outside chores. When it is slightly warmer I have a Patagonia jacket that has been around for years. When the weather is minus...
Prepare just like I do with Lake Trout. Find a 8 inch or greater maple and cut down when the sap is running. Split with a sharp axe leaving a board about 3/8 inch thick. Prepare fire with local...
It pays $15/hr. for a 40 hour week. I like to joke with our Ridgerunners that they should pay us for the privilege of living and working in Maine on the AT but no one has offered to do that.
MATC still has an opening for this season 5/18-10/20/19. The caretaker/ridgerunner position is a great way to still be involved with the hiking community and to get paid for it. The ideal candidate...
Yup, it is old and new products are much easier to use. However, I like to use it sometimes just like I enjoy driving my 66 Corvette. The Corvette doesn't have lane departure warning, cruise control,...
So 515 views and still no sale. The gods have spoken and I have listened. Last night I polished the old girl and placed the stove with its lovely old brass patina back on the shelf. I'll take it on a...
Maybe things have changed at this shelter (Brien) but several years ago when I came through it ranked first on my list as the worst shelter on the entire AT.
I agree-Iconic. My thought is to pass this classic on but if no buyer it will sit on my bookshelf and remind me of the great times we shared. The roar of this little beast in the morning is a sound...
Selling my old Svea that I bought from REI in 1975. Great retro stove but I no longer use it. Want $75 and I'll ship it free to lower 48. Personal check or PayPal works. [email protected]
Bag has been sold.
Price lowered to $75
This has been hanging in my attic unused for some time as my winter camping days are behind me. Very nice shape. I can send picture if interested. I want $100 and I'll ship it free to the lower 48....
My everyday belt is the AT belt and this frequently prompts inquiries about the trail.
Got it. Thanks folks for the help.
I can’t find where to get just the Maine section mentioned. When I go to app stores all I can find is the whole AT for $59. Can someone point me in with right direction
The Guthook guide for the AT is almost $60. Can the guide for just the trail in Maine be purchased by itself?
Things have been very dry here so usual knee-thigh fords May be ankle deep.
How did you get out? Reverse the steps. You need to fly into Portland or Bangor and get a shuttle to Stratton and not easy and not cheap. $1.50 per mile is going rate.
