Would like to know a little about fit if anyone has one. I am med build/5'10 185 lbs and my wife measured me for a medium. I usually wear large in shells. Thanks for any insight/advice.

The extra room vs the plexamid and similar weight, esp considering the plexamid
strut issues has me intrigued in these shelters.
Any info appreciated..

The breaking roof struts are the problem, or so i have read.
I am really interested in this shelter.
I really like my lunar solo and the plex is somewhat similar but 10-12 oz less wt
...just looking at some UL options to get my base wt down

I just dont understand the popularity
With various combinations of layering a puffy, base layer, hiking shirt and
rain shell, just seems like extra weight, bulk.
I am a gear junkie tho, and...
Thanks TZ.
I've a couple things i am gonna try
1 thing is for sure.
A cold night out there is miserable!
I have a thermarest neo xlite large
My quilt is a burrow 20 with 2 oz overfill
Over and under is polycro and a lunar solo
Ive had a couple of nites where i couldnt get cozy, approx 25-35 degrees...
Sounds as if leonidas and i are in a somewhat similar spot re needing to carry a little
more food. What section are you hiking on this next trip?
Thanks for the comments/suggestions
Experiences as above re frameless backpacking are really what i wanted
to hear
i only have one hike with my ohm, really liked it.
But, the fact that i was so...
I seem to run 1.2-1.4 lbs/day, and around a litre of water.
Base is 11.8 now
With the pack change and a few gear tweaks, i could be right at 10 lbs
Some say base should be lower to consider a frameless pack
I am a section hiker, have made it to woods hole,...
Thinking a med-large in the semi transparent dyneema would be great for a food sack...
one could see the contents, smaller items and would be easier to pack/unpack
thanks guys
Thanks for that info brother. Never had seen/read that. If SMD can keep the cost reasonable, i would
definitely consider it
I did. No response, lol
I am new to ground as i have been hanging for > 10 years but the interior space, vestibule, weight of the tent seemed spot on. A dcf version would weigh 16-18 oz i reckon. Just wanted to hear some...
I didnt know the difference. Thanks for that. So there is still some "old growth" on the southern end of the trail?
Thanks for the info guys. Quite a few in my area have quit section
hiking when around Va because of this. I would really like to make it to Maine
I live in Al and the drive is starting to get longer. I have made it to Woods Hole in Va. I
was told, at this point, (7-8 hr drive), many consider flying/shuttle service.
Is this logistically...
No guys. I havent been to the southern end in 10 years at least...Are all those big
beautiful trees gone?!
Am definitely open to that, Wayne. Yall like Dick's to Unicoi? (I did that section with
Wifey years ago and we had a swell time)

Thanks guys. We (hopefully) wont be sleeping in the shelters.
I guess i just need to have an "open" attitude about it all....
I mean like a giant swarm of humanity?
It will be her first hike on the AT. I want her to see some virgin growth, north Geogia.
But i dont wanna be there if there are so many hikers it isnt...
