I made a set of snakeskins big enough to pack the tarp, hammock, and underquilt. Turned out to be a pain for packing in the backpack. Kinda like stuffing an anaconda in a pack.
Pretty sure that was not asked. Just saying.
I'd pay $300 to drop another 5 lbs.

Gaia GPS for iphone. Works without a cell signal, it uses satellite positioning.
I don't use this app for track making. I do use it as a back up, checking location against my paper map and compass. I turn on the phone to check periodically. I imagine it would drain the phone...
Get a dog that hates geese as much as you.
Tundracamper
I use GAIA gps for iphone. It was about $20 when I bought it. Works on satellite, no cell signal required. Tree canopy can interfere. Do you camp in your Tundra? I'd love a camper...
I bought a used Mariposa and love it. Super light, multiple sized pockets, removable sit/back pad, removable aluminum frame. I don't like the way Ospreys fit in the hip belt.

True dat. I wouldn't mind camping next to swimming home, but I wouldn't be far from the truck.
Sent from my iPhone on board a spaceship!
Be sure to leave a detailed itinerary with a loved one.

Djl531.........Trip update: our trip was great and challenging. Weather was perfect. Monitor water levels before going. Don't over pack. Don't risk crossing deep swift waters. We did not have...
Thanks for this video. I think I saw it on face book first. I order the 3 pack for $2.58, free shipping. They sent me 5 lights. Can't beat that with a stick.
I often find myself carrying all the weight on my hips, with the shoulder straps there to keep the pack from falling off my back.
I use Gaia GPS for iphone. Works with no cell signals. As long as the tree coverage isn't too thick, I am able to pinpoint my location on the pre-downloaded map. I will turn my phone on when I am...
Thats a great price for a great tent. Love my fly creek UL3
+1 for zingit, la****, dynaglide. All lightweight and super strong.
+1 on the tyvek coverall suits. I recently picked one up for $10 at the depot. I haven't started surgery on it yet, but it is light and inexpensive. I will get a jacket with hood, pants, and...
Thanks for that link. It cost me 50 bucks. :-)
My wife and I used the Big Agnes UL fly creek 3 on our first hike. Loved it. No zipper problems yet. We went thru rain the entire first night, had water standing under the tent. Not a drop...
Many people report that synthetics will stink more than the wool. I find this true, especially with socks. I love my underarmour shirts for breathability though. I've never had a wool shirt.
My pack will always be heavier if my wife is hiking with me. Not only do I carry more so she can carry less, but she needs much more insulation than I do. She is cold year round, so she takes on...
I scooped up a granite gear Virga pack on sale for $50. Weighs in at 20oz. I have been slowly modifying it to suit me: added an external back pocket, got a hip belt from a buddy to add to it, plan...
