I've used the Vibram Five Fingers (KSO model) on and off for a few months. They are nice, just give your feet some time to get used to them. I went on the Croom "A" Loop shortly after I got them and...

Hiked the Citrus Tract over three days recently - there seem to be some reroutes that have moved the trail away from a few of the caves. I also think the total trail mileage seems to be a few miles...
I've never had any problems with anyone on or around the FT. Come on over to Inverness and hike the Citrus Loop! I spend a lot of time in the WSF, and live a couple miles from Holder Mine.
Sounds like a good time, I'm going to try to come!
Depends on what you consider a long hike, I suppose.
The FT Companion Guide for Long Distance Hikers has tons of great logistical information, but I'd definitely purchase the FT maps for whatever...
I've got a video demo from the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, and am working on a hands-on video as well. Seems like a pretty good stove so far.

I've seen people with dogs on the Citrus Loop on occasion, not sure of how long/far they were hiking though.
It's called "Hiking the Florida Trail". 1,100 Miles, 78 Days, Two Pairs of Boots, and One Heck of an Adventure.
Great book!
Depends on where you are hiking. In the summer months I always assume that mosquitoes will be bad. Most of the time I use the stock Hennessy Hammock Backpacker Asym. I use a Adventure Medical Kits...
The Phoenix -Check out some of the sections along the Suwannee, they are terrific!
Healthymom - Glad you enjoyed the Croom loop, I live close to there and get out on that loop all the time. For...
I use a hammock probably 80 percent of the time on the trail. Especially in the warmer months, and there's plenty of places along the trail to set up. I haven't been completely around Lake...
Just thought I'd share a couple of videos of Gold Head Branch State park if anybody's thinking of hiking there.

Count me in for Torreya if there's a get together!
Wait a sec - couldn't have happened on the Croom Trails. That's in Hernando, the bobcat attack was in Citrus. Silly me!
Nah, no vendors really. Well, Brasington's was set up inside selling some gear. The rest were mainly info booths. The folks from the Len Foote Hike Inn had a booth, Alabama Hiking Trail Society,...
Heard about the bobcat. I think they were on the Croom Trails (FT Loop). I see lots of scouts out there. I'm not surprised about the bobcat though, seems to be a healthy concentration of them in...
Had a good time on Friday, but left Saturday about noon. We need the rain, but dang!
Kind of hard to have a good group camping trip when everything is soaked and blowing around.
Any others coming out to the Florida Hiking Festival?
How about Blue Springs Park, or Ginnie Springs Outdoors?
Thanks! It keeps me out of trouble. I've been super busy lately with the day job, and trying to stay on top of my VISITFLORIDA stuff too. I'll get some new videos up there soon.
I've been all...
The Creek Sink and the Moonshine Trails at San Felasco are great! I checked them out a couple of months ago on my way through Gainesville. There's a little road noise from I-75, but they are cool...
Terrific information! Very detailed and just all-around good information. I've hiked through ONF a bunch, and have never journaled the trip with that much detail.
I'd love to see the pics from...
Hey Patrick - like BJ said, you'll have a great time at the Hiking Festival!
Yep, I'm camping.
Neat! Anybody who likes the outdoors will enjoy the Hiking Festival.
