The stove was still available when I was at Neel's Gap in April of 2003. I' say call them up and ask.

I prefer my tent over a shelter any day! Keeps the mosquitos from buzzing in my ears!
Yes, he is still carrying it.
To add to the list of strange things carried, I've seen a few people with rubber ducks tied to their packs lately.
I have some very sad news to report from the trail.
On July 2, a 15 year old girl died on the trail in the rollarcoaster section in VA, a mile and a half from the Sam Moore Shelter.
I spent...

Hey Jeff!
I've been hiking in Sandals now for about 400 miles (Damascus to Waynesboro) and will continue to do so until it gets colder.
There are many people out here this year that are hiking...
Erwin has internet access at the library and at Miss Janet's.
Towards the end of my trip last year, I had garlic cloves and an onion in my food bag. It makes the Lipton meals more edible.
I don't know if anyone has used a propane stove, but many people have used stoves that use a mix of butane and propane. (That is what the Pocket Rocket uses).
They are easy to find in most towns....
I didn't use them last year, but I will this year. I got a pair of the shorter ones just to keep mud and water out of my boots.
Last year, there wasn't as much rain as there has been this year...
I'll be right behind you! I'm leaving in a week! See ya there, Aubrey!
The first mile must be the most difficult part as I found a stove, a heavy cold weather jacket, a water bottle........
Gives a whole new meaning "Gear Heads."
One thing that another hiker did last year was used one of the GladWare throw away food containers (the smallest, snack size) and put PB in half and J in the other half.
Not as heavy and she was...
I never had problems. Must be just those banks. I'm from MN also and mine were always called ATM cards.
Seiko is a great cook, isn't he? :) And a very, very gracious host.
There is a hostel at Waterville School Rd called Standing Bear Farm but no campground.
There is a campground near Davenport Gap and Mt. Moma's though. It's listed as"Big Creek Ranger Station" in...
I helped last year. I also encourage everyone to sign up to help. The people I got to meet were the best!
Looking forward to helping out this year as well!
Kai- With regular oats (not the instant or quick kind), run them through a food processor for a minute or so. This will help them cook faster on the trail.
Cassandra-
You've posted this here and on the journals at Trail Journals, but I didn't see any posts on Trail Forums (sister site to TJ).
There are a few other forums out there that you could...
