That sounds great. I will definitely look into it. Thanks
How big is the parking lot? I am looking to park there next Memorial Day morning and shuttle down to Springer mountain and hike back. Is it a small parking lot? Will there be enough room on a...
Well, it looks like I will be hiking up and over blood mountain in the rain. Does anyone have any experience in this?
thanks for your input. My biggest goal was to see the view on top of Blood Mountain. Unfortunately, it look like rain this coming Sunday. Bummer
So, now that I have a bear canister, if I chose to use it instead of going thru the hassle of hanging my backpack, that would suffice???
I actually purchased a paperback book. It is called, Lost on the Appalachian Trail. LOL. It is a novel about a man and his dog walking the entire Appalachian Trail. I thought that would give me...
I have a shuttles lined up. Thank you
If I camp on top of sassafras, is it practical to hang my backpack from a tree in case of bears?

I believe Devils kitchen is the Justice creek campsites. Guthook shows 8 tent sites about 1.5 milies before reaching Gooch Mountain Shelter
yes I am doing this hike soon. I went for an over nighter last labor day and it seemed as though all water sources were dry. I thought I would have more luck during this time of the year
how far is sassafras from Hawk?
O.K. Here is my plan. Springer Mountain to Neels Gaps. 3 days and 3 nights. I plan on camping on the top of Blood mountain the third night, then hike down in the morning to my vehicle. I then have...
i was thinking of camping on the top of Blood Mountain. I guess that means a canister?
i was told that on Blood Mountain in Georgia, on the AT is where canisters are required
Probably a four or five day hike. So obviously a smaller bear canister as well? Being a novice at hiking, do these bear canisters have to be hung from trees just like your backpack if no bear...
Can someone give me their opinion on what they feel is the best light weight bear canister?
I use a Z pack's Cuban fiber backpack. I wear Solomon trail runner shoes. Everything in my backpack is what I would need to hike the trail. That is where my 25 pounds comes from. I walked 3 to 5...
I have wondered if I am wearing my pack right. is it to low? to high?
my pack is a Z Pack. Ultra lite everything and weighs 25 lbs. I walk 3-5 miles a day on construction sites as a Superintendent. I know the asphalt is not a good idea but have no other place to hike....
So, I am training to hike 32-40 miles later this year. I strap on my backpack every Saturday and Sunday morning and hike 6 miles up and down these small hilly roads near my house (asphalt is a drag)....
ok. I feel your pain. I hiked a few days this past labor day. I spent 4 months searching on line for all the right equipment for a thru-hike. I purchased pretty much the best of everything. I thought...
