I use three bags. a 32 degree for summer, a 15 degree for fall/spring and a 0 degree for winter. I typically like using a sleeping bag that is rated 10 degrees colder than what the air temp is.

where is the cold spot that you are getting. Maybe switching to a full length underquilt would help
