Oooooh! Thanks for the tip!
I made several pairs of gaiters- still going strong!- , a full down coat and pants outfit, booties, vests, day pack or 2, and even a great dog pack! Those kits were excellent!
This stuff is great! It reminds me of those old fashioned candies called "Mary Janes". Good recipe for the celiac hubby, too. I like to spread it on a bagel for a quick breakfast.

My experience with trails that horses use - up around the Loyalsock Trail- have been rough. They really rip up the terrain!
One of my faves was 2007 Gatorgump's

Chatted with John Wayne as he trekked by towards the Blu Mt pump in section 5 JN. He had 3 days at the Delaware Water Gap to chill chill out and eat some pie. Was in good spirits and said to say hi!
I agree,karoberts- there is a world of food out there besides Mountain House. Someone with gluten, or other dietary concerns has to be prepared to read labels and do some research.

Ok...thanks for the correction. Gets confusing sometimes, especially with my puzzling out acronyms!
So, I have hiked the Loyalsock Trail- I guess I missed out on a great swimming hole. Maybe next...
Just so's ya know: this "bushwahack" advice is not for The Pinchot Trail in Lakawanna State Forest, it's in The Gifford Pinchot State Park- another place entirely! Sounds like a great...
There are lots of little parking areas in the middle of the 2 loops and great spots to camp in. You should easily cpver those trails from the middle.
Pinchot is a wonderful trail that makes a nice break from the crowds on the AT. Loads of sites near water & fairly easy terrain. Bring your waterproof shoes- there are swampy areas sprinkled...
"Laughing Cow" cheeses- wrapped in wax, are wonderful! I slide them into the hydration pouch next to my Camelbak and they are protected and cool.
I have to vote for the Exped. Head doesnt roll off and weighs 3oz. My little luxury on the trail...;)
Some of our favorite soups are from Tast Adventure. Found them in Wegmans, but you can order online:

It was totally inappropriate. I bet Rausch Gap was also a huge carnival! Too bad people dont take all the crap they lug in back out with them. We usually end up packing out various items...
Rausch Gap has some spectacular water racing thru it and makes a great place to cool off. Also, just picked up my hiking pals in Port Clinton this morning. They hiked from Rt 501 over the holiday...
