Waterton Canyon is set to open back up again tomorrow morning at 7:00 AM. With that and the GG Bridge open, a clear path through Segment 1 & 2 again!

My wife and I were already hitting up the downtown REI so a stop at My Brother's Bar it is! The reviews make this place sound like heaven on Earth!
Going to be in Denver for two days visiting family prior to my CT hike, hope to be able to sample some local brews!! Believe it or not, Des Moines has started to development a pretty good microbrew...
If you're unable/unwilling to use the Facebook page, contact the Colorado Trail Foundation directly. From their responses to others on the Facebook page, they seem more than willing to answer your...
I've found the CTF Facebook page to have the most up to date information on closures/snowpack/etc. It looks like Waterton Canyon and the GG bridge over the South Platte at the beginning of Segment 2...
Thanks for the note on tightening the bag too much. The flow I was getting from the Squeeze varied on my last trip greatly and I had the rubber washer come out when I unscrewed the bag a couple times...
My wife and I are starting on the 5th. Looks like you'll have plenty of company!
Will do! Maybe I should head on over to the JMT forum next, I bet they wouldn't mind some extra precipitation this year!
I should have known better than to ask about snowpack effect back in April! It's good to know about the "half-cup" water areas being mostly reliable this year.
Duh. I knew I was missing something simple. Thanks MuddyWaters!!
I guess I should have worded it different. I'm guess I'm curious what most people do with their maps.
Yeah I figured as much. I was hoping for some voodoo magical transportation method to come from the depths of WhiteBlaze knowledge. :)
As of now, my current plans are to de-spiral the CTF Map Book and send each section I need in my resupply boxes. I'll probably fold the pages in 3rds and store them in a gallon Ziploc while using...
I used to use the regular Katadyn Hiker, then I used a mini, now I use the squeeze. My reasons for switching away from the Hiker were the same as yours, mainly the weight savings. I loved the Hiker...
I'd think the endeavors worth is up to the individual doing it. If they're making money they'll continue doing it, if they're not they'll stop. As Mags mentioned earlier, if someone wants to purchase...
At this point, aside from the Collegiate West reroute, my wife and I will probably just hike with the data book. From what I've researched online (mostly here on whiteblaze) it seems the CT is pretty...
I'm the same way, especially being my first thru-hike. The Indian Creek alternative sounds pleasant enough though.
My wife and I are thru-hiking the CT this year and I've budget about $1,700 for the two of us. We're mailing all of our resupply boxes and planning on spending a total of 6 nights in town since this...
My plan is to keep a written journal on the trail then load it into Trail Journals during each resupply stop. Granted I can find a computer and the time to do so!
We're starting SWBO on July 5th and planning on completing the trail the first week in August some time. Sounds like we'll be finishing up before conditions get too dry.
Thanks!
With the low snowpack levels across the state right now, what effect will that have one some of the waterless stretches throughout the trail? Any specific locations that will be more affected than...
I would vote for the Double Rainbow. My wife and I just got ours a few months ago and love it! Plenty big and has two good sized vestibules for storing gear.
I promise we won't spoil it! Would love to cross paths with you guys somewhere along the way! This is our first major hiking excursion so it'd be nice to run into some pros.
Good news on the San...
