Roger; I have it. We'll be zero day around Duncannon
Falconer, Eveready, Om, Queen, & I are overnight at Allenbury Resort for tonight. Very tiugh hike for me today. Just ate 3 lbs of lasagna at Anile's in Boiling Springs. That should help stave off the...
Falconer, Om, Queen, & I are sitting in James Fry Shelter @ 1400 debating the merits of prceeding another 4 mi. Ironmasrers Inn was very enjoyable. Nice caretakers; no ice cream for me, but the half...
If it's close enough to walk, then just as well hoof it. Might as well get used to it...yep 1730 = 5:30 PM. C U tomorrow!
TH,
Any chance you could pickup Falconer and me arriving on the 1730 Amtrak?
Charliehorse
You can add Charliehorse in Falconer to your guest list at the Anvil pub; sounds like a great time in the offering.
Kush et al,
Sorry i missed you yesterday. Falconer and I pulled into ATC Center around 1130; met Laurie, Lynn, and others. What a dedicated bunch of folks. They really are working hard to make this...
Treehugger,
Great post; I too did shakedown hike last weekend around Mt Marshall. My observations mirror yours except that i've gone nuts about nuts! That's right; my entire food supply is my...
TH, how's the knee? I'm starting nobo from Thornton Gap with Falconer this Friday if you want to join up. We're slow pokes and can assist if needed.

I can't recall if i told you but Hooligan and I will be at the FFKO; starting little further South but hopefully in HF on 1 May at the Teahostel. BTW I attended a small vet reunion in...
bsteinberg,
I went with JetBoil's new MightyMo. It boils a liter of water before you know it, and it does a great simmer. I've been very pleased with it.

I'll be on a shakedown near Thornton Gap on 9-11...part on the AT and rest on the side trails.
Charliehorse
kushtakaa,
This is good...very good! However, you're carrying a very small knife though. Is that wise? On the other hand, I like the dumbbell; you could melt it down for some ball ammo, but then...
Can you bring a small donkey on the AT? I mean a small donkey is just a large dog, and dogs are OK - right?
Charliehorse
kushtakaa,
I'm also doing a shakedown April 9-11 in the vicinity of Thornton's Gap. It coincidental with the AT in part, but mostly side trails. I commence the NOBO thru-hike 17 April out of Swift...
I wouldn't worry about it too much DD. As long as your BF doesn't get below 10% you'll be in great shape. I look at it as lighter is better, especially when you dealing with old 68 year old knees...
Carbo, Really sorry to hear about the bicep; i was really looking forward to having a fellow "68er" on the march. I hope you heal up quickly and get back on the trail.

There's more to the "backwards" comment than you might realize. I ordered a 2015 copy of "The A.T. Guide" from Amazon. I didn't get to scan through it for a few weeks, but when I did I ran into a...
Roger that Jammer; I too have crossed the Rubicon. Real money has changed hands with the Teahostel...see ya there on the 1st.

We appear to have a tightly grouped FF contingent. Grampie's observations are notable; they've crossed my mind in the last few weeks. There will be a psychological hurdle for some (me as well) to...

I'll be the old guy with the grey beard looking lost...

kushtakka,
We'll be looking for you along the way. I know Swift Run Gap well. My car and my money passed over the gap for 4 years heading to JMU ;). I'm hoping to make HF by May 1st for a little...
Humminbird,
I'm planning a NOBO FF start from Rock Fish Gap (+/-) on or about 13-17 April. Right now it's just me and another friend, and we have talked about a shakedown hike in SNP prior to the...
laurie,
Add one more to the mix; i made the decision recently to do the flip-flop out of HF. Your argument is solid. I'm planning on a April start and have some concerns about weather, but if it's...
My headstart out of HF is sounding better all the time...
