$200-$300. I can think of a couple of hiker-friendly lodging establishments that offered a decent discount for paying cash. Don't ask for a receipt though.
I usually fire up my butane stove in the bathroom and turn on the fan. No smoke detectors in here. I've never had a problem.
SteveReed - Question about the TalentCell 24V LI Battery PB240A1. Do you use the 24V output or 12V output to power your Resmed Airmini?
The water that flows over Cumberland Falls comes from Tennessee and would be quite high. RRG is in a whole different watershed. There will be plenty of people at RRG this weekend.
That flooding you referenced is in another state. The RRG area did not get nearly as much rain as parts of Tennessee did.
A hiker got bit by one of those dogs a couple of days later. He went to the emergency room via ambulance. A police report was filed and the Madison County animal control impounded the three dogs. I...
I'll be starting a long section hike on the FT tomorrow starting in Oviedo and going north. Are you available to do short-haul shutles like trail to town? Probably not if you are in Jacksonville.
I've always thought the I-40 crossing near Davenport Gap was underserved. Sure, it's near Standing Bear Farm but it's not stiff competition. It's in a secluded, rural area that gets a lot of Smoky...
I did this section in the last ten days. I recommend the short side trip to Maude's Crack. It's fun and the overlook at the top is superb.
I don't believe this information to be accurate. I think the above chart was made with old data. Last year the Kentucky Trail reroute was opened adding ten miles to the ST. The outrageGIS paper maps...
Nice! I just did that same hike this past weekend.

Slo-go'en - How many times have you completed the AT?
I'm sorry to hear that section hikers who completed the trail in 2020 are not being recognized. What exactly did they say/write to you?
Thank you for the update!
Try Steve at (484) 818-3851. He's out of Delaware Water Gap.
Not if you it sent it UPS or FedEx. That return to sender only works for USPS mail.
Thanks for that update! I wondered how they were progressing. Her Facebook posts made it hard to figure out.
Google Maps says RT-2/RT-115/RT-302/I-93 is the quickest. I have to drive it twice. Maybe one of the times I'll take another route.
Thanks for the tip! The guy at Enterprise will pick me up and take me to the car rental place. One shuttle driver charges $45 for that 7.5 mile ride. Geez!
Thank you for the suggestions! I called the Gorham Police Station and got permission to park near there. I need to check-in with them ahead of time and present my vehicle registration and drivers...
Does anyone have any suggestion for where I can park a car in or near Gorham, NH for 3-4 weeks? Besides the gravel lot at Pinkham Notch visitor center or at Rattle River Hostel for $10/night.
I'm don't think this is true. Hikers were staying there when I passed through last month. Plus there are comments in Guthook from hikers who stayed there recently.
