Thank you everyone.
Wow, my spell check must have turned on. Yes, Springer. I haven't been there in 6 years. My wife wants a long weekend on the trail. I figured I would get her signed in at Springer just in case she...
We plan on arriving Friday 10/16/20 late morning. Is there likely to be parking space available?
There is some great info here. My brother and I are trying to put together a trip in mid September. We need about a 50-60 mile stretch. We will arrive Saturday Sept.17.
Given the need for a...
I love my Noah's Tarp. I use the 9 for hammocking. It requires trees that are 14 or more feet apart. I use it diamond style.
Sally and Joyce are the bees knees.
I have the Makalu. They are quite nice. I don;tknow about theVoyager, If the weight is provided, choose the lighter pair.
I have enjoyed some trail magic also. Some day I will be the trail angel.
Winding Stair to NOC is 29 miles iirc. That's a long walk for an overnighter.
I just looked at some of the Trailgroove site. Looks pretty cool so far.

Haven't read the article, but Backpacker is a mean bunch and I also quit receiving it years ago. If you miss them, go to their forum and get an earfull from the political section.
Ok cool.Thank you.
I have been out of the loop for a while and I know these things can get by me sometimes. I'd sure like to not carry one if I can get away without it.
Keep your bear-mace handy. You can fix a creepy situation quickly.
I simply cannot order from them using their site. I can call them to order, but that's not the point. I want to order using the site, and when I send them a message using their chat, they always...
I sent back a pair of crocks and maybe five pounds of food that I had sent in my drop-box. I couldn't eat as much as I expected-my appetite had dropped to almost nothing for some odd reason.
I like his tarp design. Still, I want a bottom to my shelter or to be off the ground altogether as in a hammock. The pack is cool but, as another hiker said, the hip belt is a must. Good luck with...
Any additional info about this hiker would help. If you get any more info, let us know.
I didn't do anything special. It would have been better to go back a third time and drag him to the shelter.
On March 28, I encountered a downed hiker about 1/2 mile south of Hawk Mt. shelter. I had seen dropped gear along the trail, and then I walked up on him curled up in the fetal position a few feet off...
The reflective stuff is a great idea. It also makes a great food hanging rope as you can locate it easier.
Wow, good info guys, thank you.
I have an ENO Dry-Fly tarp which I have thus far set up only in my back yard. I like it, but as I was stuffing it back into it's bag, I realized the eight lines (two tie ups and six tie-outs) are...
I have been unable to reach them. Maybe they are out of town?
