I've had the Osprey for two years I believe.
The Granite Gear has a plastic back plate with a pad for an internal frame, and the Osprey has an aluminum internal frame.
Yeah, I actually hate to give it up, but I've found myself just going lighter and lighter and really just don't need the room the bag offers. However, it's a rock solid bag.
All items listed are in perfect working order with no issues other than normal wear. All payments will be through paypal.
Granite Gear AC 60 with Lid - $120
Osprey Aether 60 - $120(comes with...
Yes, this was my setup for quite a while and it worked great for me. I had a Hennessey ASym Zip with a Big Agnes bag, and a therm-a-rest prolite pad(would let it self inflate then put a few more...
I've only hiked Georgia, but my favorite spot in GA is Wolf Laurel Top.
I have the AC 60 and LOVE my pack. I haven't tried a lot of other packs though, so I can't really compare for you. However, I've done a few hundred miles with my AC 60, and don't have a single...
I made that mistake in my 2 wheel drive chevy, but I made it all the way up. And I was behind two jeeps, I'm sure they were wondering what the idiot in the truck was doing. :)
I'd say Georgia is bad if you hit the trail with no physical preparation. I believe I would have completed my thru hike had I done a week long shakedown hike before hand, as it was, I failed just...
I like having a full length pad under me in my hammock, more of a personal preference than anything. I use a Therma Rest self inflatable pad. I'm thinking about swapping to a 3/8 CCF pad though and...
Hey guys,
I've hiked Springer to Neels gap before during early May(2012), but I would like to take a group of friends (6-8) from Springer to Neels gap sometime later this year before it gets too...
I've carried up to 40lbs in my Blaze AC 60 and was perfectly comfortable. My normal pack weight is usually 30-32 lbs for that pack and I find it's always super comfortable.
I was doing the platy bottles in my side pockets, but I've decided to go with a 3L bladder in my pack. I figured out that if I take the mouth piece off, my katadyn pump filter tube fits perfectly...
Since it's a two day event, I would imagine you wouldn't sleep at all. Carry just your water, food, and willpower to force your way through it. I've never done one of these, would like to, but...
I have a BigAgnes bag and I use a Hennessy Asym Zip, I use a Thermarest airpad. I have never once gotten cold under me, I've only been down to about 30 degrees with that setup though. You don't...
I use a pad with a big agnes bag, just put the pad in the pad slot and it never moves. However, if I don't hang with the right angle or if I shift too much during the night, my entire body will...
I've made a hobby out of making stoves, and by far my favorite is the double walled stove you make out of an aluminum bud light bottle. Just make sure you put the holes far enough down and it works...
Sorry, Franklin NC
A friend and myself will be doing a 10 day hike from Springer Mt to Franklin GA(Winding Stair Gap), and we will need a ride back to Springer Mt parking lot. We were wondering if there was anyone who...
Liked it! :)
I was on the trail last year from April 26 to May 7 and I had a 30 degree bag in a hammock with a pad under me, I never got cold at all.
I have had this same exact problem.
Make sure the compression shorts you buy are big enough. If you get them too tight, they will shove your skin/fat to the top and actually make them rub...
Yep, when I do my next thru hike attempt, I will be using a homemade alcohol stove. It's actually become a hobby to build all the different types I find online just for fun.
Shelters are usually occupied and are 3 walled buildings with a roof. Campsites are just that, bare ground with a fire ring, sometimes close to a water source.
My personal view on playing...
