There are a few options to this day hike. Hike South on the AT from Neel Gap. Either take the blue blazed Freeman Trail to Bird Gap and turn North on the At and hike up and over Blood Mt back to Neel...

This road was closed to thru traffic after Blood Mt became a wilderness area.....I don't know what year this wilderness designation occured.
