It varies alot kerosene, under some conditions you can lose over a quart an hour. Ive had days where I have sucked down 6L of water while hiking and anouther 2L in camp as well.

re: water usage - I figure out how much I SHOULD use and if I run out I dont sweat it - 2l is enough...
Ive had mine for a year and a half and love it - I sleep a lot better knowing its there.
re:hanging - in the end hanging is only a delay tactic and even useless in a few areas, If you are anywhere...

many have asked How long to allow for a complete thru hike so heres a chance to see what you all really think.
the number of weeks to allow for a thru hike....
anything is possible - are you up to it is the question and we cant answer it.
many would suggest a slower hike to allow more sight seeing time but a quick hike is still better then none.

Your right the goretex will insure that if your boots get wet they will stay that way. keep a pair of trash bags to line the boot with in an emergency so your feet stay somewhat dry.... cant comment...
